As part of the FAUMUN program, Dr. Vanina Rodriguez-Bauer held an expert lecture on intercultural competence, which is a highly important skill for Delegates, especially at NMUN. Throughout the lecture, she gave us thought-provoking insight into the e.g. the iceberg model of communication analyzing the different levels of communication.

Furthermore, the lecture continued with an insight into Japan as we are representing Japan at the NMUN NY conference this year where delegates combined their already existing knowledge of i.e. Japanese traditions, cuisine, and entertainment industry as well as the country’s history and socio-political characteristics. In smaller groups, delegates then designed papers on Japan using the knowledge gained in the lecture.

A big thank you goes out to Vanina for taking the time to teach us about intercultural competence!
