In a world where conflicts and wars drive an ever-deeper wedge between the international community, the United Nations Organization remains a bright hope for dialog and peaceful resolutions. Even though I find the UN to be able to improve in many aspects, I believe in the work and goals the institution completes and sets. The Sustainable Development Goals are a great example for the high hopes the UN inspires. Instead of lofty, I find those goals inspiring and believe them to be a good reminder of what the world could be. Even though the road may be long, striving towards no poverty, universal access to healthcare and education and a peaceful and united world is worthwhile, even, or especially when those goals seem farther away day by day. For me, the United Nations Organization continues to be proof of the good a strong international organization can accomplish, something we should strife to uphold in the future.

The FAUMUN delegates work as multipliers of the knowledge and skills they gained at FAUMUN.This in combination with the engagement of the participants will lead to discussions with otherstudents, the exchange of opinions and skills and the sharing of viewpoints. Those aspects inviteto rethinking, questioning old patterns and to new modern ideas fitting the actual situation of theworld – the bases of successful research. Additionally, the project enhances the relationships between the FAU and other universities andcompanies in Germany and internationally. The delegates engage with other young people around the world which leaves the potential for long-term collaborations between the university and thefuture workplaces or universities of the delegates. This could help future collaborations forresearch, the exchange of methods and results and therefore could lead to an increase in incomeand international standing for the FAU.

The United Nations signify an attempt at unifying nations under the shared goals of peace, equality, and freedom. In an increasingly interconnected world, global collaboration is not merely ideal but essential to effectively address the complex challenges that transcend borders—such as climate change, poverty, human rights violations, and conflicts. The UN provides a unique platform for dialogue, understanding, and cooperation between countries of all backgrounds, fostering mutual respect and collective progress. For me, the United Nations represent more than an institution; they embody the hope for a fairer and more sustainable world. Working within such an organization would allow me to contribute to global freedom, equality, and justice—values that I deeply believe in. It offers an opportunity to actively participate in shaping solutions to some of the most pressing issues of our time and to ensure that every nation, regardless of its power or size, has a voice in building our shared future.

FAUMUN is much more than a student project – it’s an ambassador for the university on an international stage. Through the program, motivated students develop strong skills in diplomacy, negotiation, public speaking, and intercultural communication, which they then carry into their academic, professional and social environments. By sending a delegation to major conferences like NMUN in New York, FAU demonstrates that it fosters global awareness, leadership, and responsibility – values that strengthen the university’s reputation worldwide. In this way, FAUMUN not only enriches students individually but also enhances FAU’s visibility, network, and credibility as a globally connected institution.

FAUMUN brings real-world urgency into theory, encouraging students to act rather than solely observe. I see this as an exciting opportunity to broaden my understanding of international diplomacy in a dynamic environment. As diplomacy is a constantly evolving process, I hope to gain the skills necessary to engage with it effectively. I also look forward to improving my abilities in negotiation and public speaking. Additionally, I expect FAUMUN to enable me to think critically about global issues and to approach problem-solving from diverse perspectives. Beyond the skill-building aspect, I look forward to connecting and exchanging ideas with different people. I believe that engaging in new areas of thought and diverse forms of dialogue will make FAUMUN a valuable experience.

The FAU benefits from the FAUMUN project in many ways. On the one hand, its students gain firsthand experience in the responsibility of representing their university in a professional manner. FAUMUN enables delegates to develop essential skills not only in professionalism, negotiation, and discussion, but also in diversity, respect, and consensus. These are key competencies that benefit every delegate personally and professionally. Additionally, the concept of “learning by modelling” is an extraordinary and highly effective way of acquiring these abilities. On the other hand, the delegates represent the FAU at nationwide conferences and delegation gatherings, as well as at prestigious international conferences in New York City and Brussels. Representing one’s university is both a great responsibility and a valuable opportunity. As a delegate, I am highly motivated to not only maintain but also improve my university’s international reputation through dedication, professionalism, and a spirit of cooperation.

I applied to participate in Model United Nations because I have a strong interest in global politics and a desire to better understand how international cooperation shapes our world. In my studies, I want to focus on sustainability and global governance, and MUN offers the perfect environment to explore these topics in practice. I’ve always enjoyed debating interesting issues, learning new things, and meeting people from diverse backgrounds. I also love to travel and see MUN as an opportunity to broaden my horizons both academically and personally. Through this experience, I hope to develop valuable skills such as negotiation, debating, and speech writing, while also improving my soft skills – especially confidence, teamwork, and communication. Most of all, I want to learn to express my ideas clearly and engage with others respectfully and thoughtfully.

From my participation in FAUMUN, I expect to gain a deeper understanding of the United Nations system, its goals, and the complexity of international relations. I hope to improve my ability to express opinions clearly, negotiate confidently, and think from multiple perspectives. More personally, I see FAUMUN as a challenge to step into a new environment that pushes me to grow both intellectually and socially. I applied because I want to become someone who not only follows world events but actively contributes to positive change. This experience will help me unlock a more confident, informed, and globally aware version of me. In addition, I hope to meet inspiring people who share similar ambitions and learn from their perspectives and experiences. Being part of FAUMUN will allow me to practice leadership and teamwork in a professional setting while exploring topics that truly matter to me. Finally, I want to leave the program with stronger communication skills, a clearer global vision, and the motivation to use my knowledge to make a real impact.

The University benefits strongly from the international ties it’s students are able to make during FAUMUN, connecting to students from other universities around the world and capture the ideas of global diplomacy making both the FAU more attractive for it’s possibility to learn the practice of international affairs but also it’s students as the possibility of working in the diplomatic service or the like may be strengthened or reduced by actual practice experience through FAUMUN, helping the students finding a successful career for them. Having a strongly connected United Nations Organisation also influences the choice of university for internationally interested or active pupils/students. FAUMUN can also be seen as a prestige project since Nuremberg is the „city of peace and human rights“ and universal human rights are strongly protected by the UNO as they are it’s basics, making Model United Nations the ideal program for an university encouraging it’s students to interact with the United Nations and it’s value.

I chose to participate in FAUMUN because of the opportunity to enhance my negotiation and public speaking skills while learning how to effectively represent a country’s interests in an international forum. I believe that this is something that would benefit me as a business student. I am eager to experience real-life negotiation process and conferences with diverse voices on the pressing issues the world faces today. I believe that FAUMUN will not only contribute to my academic and professional growth but also strengthen essential skills such as, intercultural communication, time management, and teamwork – skills that are necessary for my future career in an international business/environment. Overall, by the end of this program I expect to become a more competent and a more confident participant in the world of international diplomacy.

Cooperation on a wide scale. The 193 Member States of the UN work together to protect peace and security worldwide. This is becoming more and more important in our world right now. Especially looking at the US, it is clear that “our people first” has become a really popular mindset. If more countries adopt this view, people in less fortunate situations will suffer the consequences. For example, oppression, persecution and violence of one regime can happen without any punishment because every country will be busy focusing on themselves, which ultimately will result in global chaos. Therefore, the UN is a great tool to prevent such a scenario by upholding its Charta and keeping an eye on every threat for human rights, but this is not possible without Cooperation.

To me, the United Nations Organization represents the idea of shared responsibility to build a more just, peaceful and sustainable world. It is a space where many countries, cultures and individuals come together to address global challenges. I don’t only see the United Nations as a political institution but also as a symbol of collaboration. For example, having worked in fields like impact entrepreneurship and digitalization has shown me that meaningful change requires cooperation between diverse stakeholders. Also having studied and lived in different countries, I’ve learned how important intercultural understanding and dialogue are for finding valuable solutions. These aspects are exactly what the United Nations represent in my opinion. The United Nations approach to combining global vision with local action inspires me to contribute to a future where dimensions like sustainability, equity and peace are not abstract goals but shared realities.

I expect to meet a lot of interesting people within the delegation itself and inside the program. I want to become better at speaking in front of big crowds, building arguments in English and convincing people of my opinion. I want to challenge myself to focus on my deficits regarding these skills and work on them together with the team and through practical work. I applied for the program because I heard from many voices that it is a great opportunity to practice the skills already talked about and that it is always a lot of fun. Another key point for me is the grand final in New York City were I always wanted to go and see the city. The program gives me this great chance.

Practical insights and social competencies no lecture or assignment can teach. In other words, moving from thinking towards doing and engaging. Collecting practical, hands-on knowledge which is far more valuable than knowledge alone. Take cross-cultural communication, for example, there are so many Model UN conferences that you more or less have to adapt your negotiation style and behavior constantly. Not only because of the country you’re representing, but also depending on the topic of the conference and how the other delegates present themselves. This kind of dynamic adaptation is something you simply can’t learn from textbooks. Apart from internships, FAUMUN is honestly the best hands-on experience I know so far. It gives students real-world diplomatic experience while enhancing the university’s profile as an institution that prepares people for actual international cooperation, not just theory.

What draws me to FAUMUN is the opportunity to grow through experience. I have always been curious about how international decisions are made and how diplomacy can create understanding between people and nations. FAUMUN offers a setting where theory becomes practice — where discussion, empathy, and strategy meet. I applied because I want to experience this process firsthand and challenge myself to think and act like a diplomat. Through the project, I hope to strengthen my communication, negotiation, and analytical skills while learning how cooperation can turn ideas into action. It’s a chance to work with people from diverse backgrounds and approach global issues with an open and solution-oriented mindset. More than anything, I see FAUMUN as an opportunity to grow personally and academically while contributing to a team that believes in collaboration and meaningful change.

I am personally convinced that a university like FAU as an educational institution with a certain standard of excellence can benefit from participating in a project like FAUMUN in many ways: First, it gives them the opportunity to be present in a large international student forum and build valuable networks with students and universities from abroad. As they are part of conferences specifically designed as forums of discussions and exchange, the institution gains an effective opportunity to contribute their own values and point of view. Furthermore, the offering of FAUMUN can be considered a relevant factor for FAU to appear more attractive to students in their decision process whether to pursue a degree at the university or not- as I can confirm myself. Modern education seems to be increasingly practice-oriented, and such projects fit in perfectly with this development. Consequently, the individual student benefits from FAUMUN as well as the university itself what leads to a clear win-win-situation.

Through FAUMUN, I seek to gain practical experience in addressing global social and peace issues. I am eager to learn more about the UN’s role in international politics and its procedures. I understand that the program will be intensive, presenting challenges like public speaking in a MUN context or heavy workload. However, I view this as an invaluable opportunity to enhance rhetorical skills, train myself in resilience and build confidence in my abilities. It will be my first time to get a glimpse into the field of international relations from a different perspective than a scientific one. I want to explore this field and find out what are the strengths and weaknesses of the already existing web of international relations and find possible solutions for the problems that the UN is facing in these times. For me personally I expect to reevaluate if this field could hold a future career ready for me or not.

To me, the United Nations Organization stands for cooperation and understanding among different nations. It represents the belief that diplomacy and communication can create solutions to global challenges. I see the UN as more than just a political institution, it is a platform where culture and values as well as a wide range of perspectives come together and to build mutual respect. The organization reminds me that even small contributions can have a global impact when people work together. The UN embodies hope and idea that progress comes through empathy and shared responsibility for our world. I especially respect the UN’s efforts to promote women’s rights, recognizing that gender equality is essential not only for individual empowerment but also for building a stronger society. These initiatives remind me that global challenges affect real lives and that meaningful change requires sustained effort.

FAUMUN brings together various individuals from different cultural and academic backgrounds to engage with complex global issues. Going beyond the scope of conventional courses in the curriculum, it provides a platform for cross-cultural and interdisciplinary collaboration. As a result, it fosters intercultural understanding, critical thinking and mutual respect among the students involved. Moreover, participants develop the ability to navigate socio-political challenges through rigorous research, public speaking and negotiation training – skills that reflect positively on both their academic performance and the quality of FAU. FAUMUN thus enhances the university’s reputation as an institution that actively nurtures its students’ development and promotes international exchange. By representing FAU at international Model United Nation conferences, the FAUMUN delegation clearly demonstrates the university’s commitment to academic excellence, diplomacy and global engagement.

I hope that by participating in the FAUMUN New York Delegation, I gain a unique insight into the work of the UN. I also expect this experience to challenge me to step outside of my comfort zone—whether through public speaking, negotiating in English, or representing perspectives that differ from my own. Besides, I see it as an opportunity to gain more confidence and experience in developing my rhetorical skills as well as personal growth in general. Moreover, I hope to obtain a deeper understanding of topics related to conflict resolution and international dialogue, which interest me highly. I also applied because FAUMUN fosters an interdisciplinary learning environment. Meeting and working with like-minded students from various academic fields will allow me to broaden my perspective and improve my ability to communicate and collaborate across disciplines.

Through FAUMUN, the university establishes a connection between academic education and practical experience. This program enables students to acquire and deepen their analytical, strategic, and rhetorical skills in authentic diplomatic settings. Delegates learn to address international challenges with precision and cooperation – skills essential in any field. In addition, students develop critical thinking, constructive argumentation, and empathy for views different from their own. Thereby, FAUMUN complements academic studies with applied competence. This experience fosters a problem-solving and cooperative mindset, promotes collaboration, interdisciplinary learning, and a sense of global responsibility. FAUMUN therefore strengthens the role of the FAU as a place where knowledge meets responsibility, empowering students to make meaningful contributions to society. In this way, the university creates and benefits from a program that transforms global awareness into tangible academic and personal development.

I expect, like probably most of us, personal growth, but not simply in gaining more confidence in public speaking, etc., but rather in exploring my limits and working on them. For e.g. I want to face unexpected or spontaneous situations or also of me pushing myself go really get at least to the border of my comfort zone. Moreover, I hope to connect with a strong, inspiring community and to build friendships that last beyond the project itself, also to strengthen my intercultural and interpersonal competencies.Through FAUMUN, I aim to deepen my understanding of the United Nations system as well as the work of diplomacy, especially how international collaboration functions in practice. I see this experience as a valuable bridge between my academic path and my professional goals. Another goal of mine is to become more persuasive in negotiations, and learn to remain calm, constructive and still convincing even in emotionally charged discussions.
