    Noah Dalibor

To me, the United Nations stands for unity in a world often divided by hate, conflict, and injustice. It’s a coming together of nations and people who believe in peace, dignity, and shared humanity. In times of crisis, the UN acts as a guardian, watching over the world and striving to bring light into dark places. Its mission is not just political or diplomaticit’s deeply human. Whether through humanitarian aid, peacekeeping, or defending human rights, the UN tries to give good to the world, even when the world seems broken. For me, it represents hope: the belief that collaboration can overcome chaos, and that compassion can be stronger than cruelty. The UN reminds us that we are not alone, and that together, we can build a future based on respect, equality, and care for one another.

FAUMUN offers students an unparalleled opportunity to engage directly with international diplomacy extending learning far beyond conventional classrooms. It cultivates essential skills in negotiation, critical thinking and interdisciplinary collaboration, connecting faculties from business and social sciences to engineering and technology. By bringing together students with diverse academic and cultural backgrounds, FAUMUN fosters a vibrant, globally minded campus community encouraging dialogue, mutual understanding and innovative problem-solving. Participation also strengthens FAU’s reputation as an institution that promotes academic excellence and international engagement, making it more attractive to prospective students seeking holistic and forward-looking educational experiences. Beyond skill development, FAUMUN nurtures leadership, adaptability and cultural intelligence empowering students to navigate complex global challenges confidently. By simulating real-world diplomatic scenarios, it prepares participants to act with insight, responsibility and integrity, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application while shaping the next generation of globally aware leaders and problem-solvers.

    Andreea Lazar

I applied to FAUMUN because it perfectly combines my passion for international cooperation and personal growth. Having lived in several European countries, I understand the value of dialogue across cultures. Through FAUMUN, I hope to strengthen my skills in negotiation and public speaking, abilities that are essential not only in diplomacy but also in any professional field. I look forward to learning from diverse perspectives, building meaningful connections, and gaining a deeper insight into how international decisions are made. More than anything, I expect FAUMUN to challenge me: to think critically, to defend my ideas with confidence, and to listen with openness. I see this experience as a unique opportunity to grow as a communicator, a leader, and a citizen of a global community.

    Jil Maddalena

FAUMUN offers the university a valuable opportunity to strengthen its international reputation and to support experiential learning. By participating students develop critical skills in negotiation, diplomacy and teamwork that directly enhance the academic environment. The program encourages collaboration between different disciplines, fostering mutual understanding and intercultural exchange. These experiences enable participants to bring new perspectives and practical insights back to campus, by insightful seminars and discussions. Moreover, FAUMUN creates a network of motivated students who represent the university’s values of openness, academic curiosity and global engagement. Their participation demonstrates that the university not only provides theoretical knowledge but also actively empowers its students to engage in real-world challenges and contribute meaningfully to international dialogue.

I hope that my participation allows me to grow beyond the knowledge and abilities I have accumulated throughout my studies so far, to the point where I can confidently say that my participation has improved me as a person in terms of both my professional and social capabilities. I have often discovered that things that make you scared or uncomfortable are also the things that you look back on somewhat fondly because you retroactively realize that they shaped and improved you tremendously. And so, I applied almost as a form of exposure therapy, in order to put myself in as many new situations as possible and learn to handle stress and uncomfortableness in a productive way. I of course also hope and expect to have many wonderful experiences to look back on later down the road, as I wish to take the good with the bad and make the best out of both.

    Lea Redel

To me, the United Nations represents the world’s most important dialogue — an ongoing effort to transform disagreement into understanding. It embodies the belief that, although slow and imperfect, dialogue is stronger than division. I don’t see the UN as a perfectly functioning institution, but rather as an ongoing process that reflects our collective determination to improve despite setbacks. Its meaning lies in its persistence: the daily effort to bridge cultural, political, and moral distances that seem unbridgeable. What interests me most is that it is an institution built to give a voice to both the powerful and the powerless, reminding us that progress is built on empathy, not dominance. To me, the UN symbolises humanity’s determination to cooperate, even when it is inconvenient, and I believe that is a quiet kind of courage.

    Martin Rohr

FAUMUN provides a bridge between academic learning and the global reality for the university. It enables students to explore international relations, negotiation and communication. These are skills that complement any field of study. FAUMUN transforms the university into more than just a place for technical or theoretical education. It becomes a place where students learn to view the world from different cultural perspectives. FAUMUN also strengthens the university community. People from various faculties come together to exchange ideas and build confidence in English and public speaking. This shared experience enriches campus life, demonstrating that FAU supports academic excellence, personal growth, and global awareness. In this way, FAUMUN reflects the university’s openness to the world and its belief in learning through engagement.

    Manya Srivastava

As a student myself, I expect FAUMUN to be an experience that lets me learn beyond what I can in a classroom. I want to learn and delve deeper into international relations and speak in a diplomatic setting where I am able to apply what I learn. Through research, I expect to strengthen my analytical and communicative skills, while learning to represent perspectives and cultures that may even be a complete opposite from my own. I want to understand and try to emulate the perspectives of different countries. I also look forward to making meaningful connections with my fellow participants, the alumni, and the faculty. Most importantly, I want FAUMUN to be something that challenges me – pushes me out of my comfort zone, improves my confidence in public speaking and negotiation and helps me approach complex global issues with empathy and strategic thinking.

    Annabell Voigtländer

I applied because I see FAUMUN as a chance to step outside of the familiar structure of my studies and experience how ideas like diplomacy and international law actually take shape. Through the project, I hope to understand better how people with different opinions, backgrounds, and goals manage to build common ground. Additionally, I see it as an opportunity to grow personally. I want to improve my soft skills – communicating clearly, debating respectfully, and working effectively with others – while learning with and from people who bring different perspectives. Since I enjoy languages and internationalism, meeting new people and exchanging ideas across cultures is something I really value. Europe feels special to me because so many languages and cultures coexist so closely, creating opportunities for interaction and learning. Overall, I expect FAUMUN to broaden my view of the world – showing how much can be achieved when people listen, cooperate, and turn shared ideas into real action.

    Saeeda Zahoor

My motivation for applying to FAUMUN stems from a deep desire to develop crucial skills that will serve me throughout my academic and professional career. I am particularly eager to enhance my critical thinking capabilities, learn to work effectively under pressure, and master the art of delivering compelling speeches within strict time constraints. FAUMUN offers the perfect environment to refine my ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively, build self-confidence in formal settings, and strengthen my negotiation and diplomatic skills. Beyond personal development, I am particularly interested in contemporary global issues and the diverse positions that different nations take on them and throughout this course I see the opportunity to understand these issues from multiple perspectives. What particularly excites me about FAUMUN is the opportunity to represent countries whose views may differ significantly from my own. This exercise in perspective-taking is invaluable; it pushes me beyond my comfort zone and challenges my assumptions. This ability to see the world through different lenses is not only academically enriching but also essential for fostering empathy and building bridges in an increasingly polarized world.
