The FAUMUN EU Delegation participated in BaMUN 2025 in Bamberg. This year, our delegates joined the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Committee, alongside delegates from Bamberg and Erfurt. Holding the committee in a UNESCO World Heritage City added immediate practical relevance to the discussion, as questions of cultural preservation and international responsibility were not merely theoretical but visible throughout the host city.

The committee agenda included two topics:

1. Promoting Restitution or the Return of Cultural Property to its Country of Origin

2. Promoting Freedom of Expression and Access to Information

After initial agenda setting and consultations, delegates decided to focus on the first topic in order to develop concrete and implementable policy proposals within the limited conference timeframe. Throughout the committee sessions, the EU Delegation was closely involved in shaping the discussion on cultural restitution, contributing to both the direction of the debate and the development of the final resolutions on cultural restitution.

Beyond formal debate, the conference provided valuable opportunities for strategic coordination within the EU Delegation and for exchange with other delegations, particularly those from Bamberg and Erfurt. These interactions strengthened both diplomatic practice and inter-university cooperation.

BaMUN 2025 proved to be a demanding and rewarding conference that allowed the FAUMUN EU Delegation to further refine its negotiation skills. It stands as a meaningful contribution to the delegation’s preparation for future international MUN conferences. We would like to sincerely thank the University of Bamberg and the BaMUN organizing team for the invitation and their warm hospitality throughout the conference.
